London Terror Plot Involves Islamic Extremists; Police Have 'Crystal Clear' Picture of Suspect
ABC News reports that British police have a "crystal clear" picture of the man who drove the bomb-rigged silver Mercedes outside a London nightclub, and he bears "a close resemblance" to a man arrested by police in connection with another bomb plot but released for lack of evidence.

Officials say the suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the case of al Qaeda operative Dhiren Barot (pictured), who was convicted of orchestrating a vehicle bomb plot involving targets in London, New York, Newark, N.J. and Washington, D.C.As expected, ""U.S. and British law enforcement officials tell ABC News it is increasingly clear Friday's bomb plot in London involves multiple vehicles, and is described by a senior official as a "terror plot involving lslamic extremists.""Officials say a surveillance camera caught the suspect "staggering from the Mercedes" shortly after parking it outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub.
ABC News has learned the bomb was composed of tanks of propane, butane and 125 liters of gasoline (33 U.S. gallons), roofing nails and a fuse that initial reports indicated was constructed of simple light bulb or flashbulb filaments and designed to be triggered by a mobile telephone. Also via ABC News, London authorities investigating the case and U.S. authorities monitoring it say the Mercedes car bomb, if correctly made, could have sent a shrapnel-filled fireball into the air, maiming and killing people in a several hundred yard radius that included a popular nightclub, but based on an initial forensic investigation, authorities believe the fuel-air mixture was incorrect and ultimately led the bomb to fail.
Via NBC, British authorities say they have identified three men involved in the plot, and that they are believed to be from the Birmingham area, a center of radical Islamic unrest activity in Britain.

Crusade Media recently reported the following:
"a new jihadi video, made in the same region, that purports to show a "graduation ceremony" of 300 aspiring suicide bombers headed for the West. According to an account of the tape on the ABC News web site, the ceremony was staged on June 9 at a training camp alleged to be operated by the Taliban and Al Qaeda. The video, recorded by a Pakistani journalist, shows groups of about 150 masked men--supposedly suicide bombers assigned to conduct attacks in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States."

Here in the UK, our politicians have discussed protecting our country from terrorism by air or rail, but not by car. Anybody can get the substances needed to make a car bomb, create a car bomb, and drive it anywhere on any day. Our government needs to urgently address this matter.

The people of London have had two lucky escapes.

Senior has a good point, although a car bomb, driven by suicide bomber or simply parked and detonated remotely, is hard to stop before it actually blows up. Nutcase Islamothugs that can't assimilate simply need to be deported first, and no more allowed in. If they're "home grown," send them to a new home - anywhere but in the West. Perhaps they'd like the desert, or some cave in the tribal region of Pakistan - just before a MOAB missile is sent through the entrance.
As for Ron, you gotta wonder what his point is. Surely, he's not suggesting that clamping down on a few individual freedoms during war time to save a country is worse than allowing the enemy to destroy it because we hid our heads in the sand.
Let me guess which party he votes for .......
Is Pelosi, Reid, George Soros, Cindy Sheehan, and MoveOn.org a good hint?
All ribbing aside, a little common sense just might go a long way toward winning the war against radical Islam. These people are different than any enemy the West has ever faced - they are complete ideologues, driven by insane hate for anything not Islamist. In virtually every war the West has fought before Vietnam, war-time powers were inacted that clammed down on some individual freedoms and rights - long enough to make sure the enemy couldn't use our freedoms against us and for his advantage. If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to be concerned about. No one likes it, but making sure we know about the enemy before he strikes sure beats the hell out of dying. Common sense middle ground makes for a survival society. Otherwise, all you have are etheric principles of freedom that die in the process...

Time to revisit a paragraph in my previous comment; after reading Ron's link I realize that Ron is less likely a far-left Dem and more likely a Ron Paul supporter. If so, that explains his reference. While there's much about what RP has to say, making concessions to our enemy and failing to aggressively go after him will only get us dead as individuals and as a society. Like I read recently at another site, the name of which escapes me, "Ron Paul is very good at telling people what they want to hear, not what they need to know. Ron Paul is very good at objecting in order to establish the "chance for peace", but he has no plans for war." And this forum is not the place for arguing about people like Ron Paul and Dennis Kuccinich. In RP's case he "proposes himself to be a conservative, but in reality he is a political spinmeister with some very liberal slants." And he truly fails to realize who and what we are at war with - political Islam, and that it is indeed a fight to the death of Western civilization.
Just for the record, any post in the future that appears to serve to argue for a particular candidate that has no clue that we are at war, will simply be deleted....
Just call it a temporary restraint on a certain freedom - the freedom to argue in circular functions - during a time of war.
