Arab Media Reports Syria Making Preparations for War with Israel

Al Watan, a Qatari newspaper, reports that Syria is making concrete preparations for war with Israel, saying that the Syrian government has removed the Government and State Archives from the Damascus area. According to the paper, this move indicates preparations for war:

(Via IsraelNN.com) Syrian parliament member Muhammad Habash confirmed on Al-Jazeera Arabic world news satellite TV last week that Syria is indeed engaged in active preparations for a war with Israel. The conflict, said the Syrian MP, is expected to break out during the summer months.
The news that Syria may be preparing for war this summer couldn't come at a worse time. As Brad Macdonald notes at The Trumpet.com, Israel has barely recovered from last summer's war with Hezbollah, and now it is being pushed into another war.
On top of that, the Israeli government itself is plagued with division and infighting.

Thursday's events will test the character and strength of Israel.

There are multiple alarming angles to this week's events in Gaza. For example, when Hamas defeated Fatah it gained control over thousands of high-powered weapons, originally supplied to Fatah by a U.S.-sponsored program to help boost Fatah forces. Will Hamas now use those weapons against Israel? There is also talk of an international force entering Gaza to curb Hamas and stabilize the area. It is likely that much of that force would be comprised of European soldiers. Biblical prophecy suggests that this too could have serious ramifications.

Thursday's events in Gaza could mark a turning point in the history of Israel, the Middle East and the world. Time will tell.

As much as I support the US in the War on Terror, I cannot ignore the stupidity of the people who thought that it may be a good idea to give effective weapons to Palestinians. I don't care that they went to Fatah and not Hamas. Obviously they could easily have fallen into the wrong hands. The fact that they now have is America's fault, because it shouldn't have given the weapons to Fatah in the first place. I'm an ordinary person, not a politician, and not an expert. It is so very obvious to me though that giving weapons to Palestinians and Arabs in general is not a good idea. I hope that the US is giving Israel more distructive weapons, or else the War on Terror might just be lost, because Israel may be beaten, and if the Democrats get elected, defeat in Iraq will be inevitable.

Now there's a comment that I couldn't agree with more. Even I, a "sort of" Muslim, think the idea of giving Palestinians weapons, ANY Palestinian, is just nuts. About as nuts as electing the Democrats into power in the middle of a global war against radical Islam and its sponsors Iran, Syria, and al-Qaeda.
