Four Arrested in Dua Khalil Aswad Honor Killing
Her "crime" was falling in love with a Sunni Muslim boy, for which she was brutally stoned to death:
Authorities in northern Iraq have arrested four people in connection with the "honor killing" last month of a Kurdish teen -- a startling, morbid pummeling caught on a mobile phone video camera and broadcast around the world. The case portrays the tragedy and brutality of honor killings in the Muslim world. Honor killings take place when family members kill relatives, almost always female, because they feel the relatives' actions have shamed the family.
What can you say about a culture that stands by and watches this, and take no action to save the girl or contibute some measure of rationality to the mob mentality and the sick custom of honor killing?

I find it appalling that on your freedom zone website, you would have an add for beautiful foreign brides. Promulgating exploitation of women under the tag of Adds by Google!

For "Any Woman's" edification, we also find it appalling, but have no control on what Google puts up from time to time. They determine what is "content appropriate" and our control over the individual adds is limited to categories rather than details.

Honor killings occur any many places around the world, not just in the so called "muslim world". As for Du'a Khalil, she was of the Yazidi faith which is derived from Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. She was killed by her own people for falling in love with someone of the Islam faith. Honor killings are a product of cultural belief and unfortunately men and women are victims of this type of crime around the world.

Good point, Farinam. But regardless of who does it, one can only wonder how such a thing occurs in today's world.

FAR- no matter what they well try to accuse the Islamic religion even though Muslims did not commit this. She was killed for converting to Islam and for wanting to be in a relationship with a Muslim boy.

Amani - As Abdul dully noted, regardless of who does it, one can only wonder how such a thing occurs in today's world. Unfortunately, this does happen more so in Muslim societies than in any other. This having been said, Muslims are right to say that it is not condoned in their faith and thatmost Muslims in todays world condemn honor killings
