On April 7, hundreds of unemployed diploma holders activists gathered in Mohamed Ali Square in front of the General Tunisian Workers' Union (UGTT) headquarters to demand their right to jobs. As they were trying to reach Habib Bourguiba Avenue, the demonstrators clashed wisecurity forces.   Marches and demonstrations were recently banned in Habib Bourguiba Avenue to which the demonstrators were heading.   This decision came under effect on March 28th. Tear gas was used against the protestors by security forces. Demosntrators are reclaiming back this street liberated on January 14, 2011. Another demonstration is scheduled in Habib Bourguiba Avenue on April 9, Martyrs Day, to honour the memory of martyrs who have sacrificed themselves for the country throughout Tunisia’s modern history. Demonstrators will demand that the injured of The Tunisian revolution be treated with no more delay. They will also demand he right to demonstratre peacefully on Habib Bourguiba Avenue. A lot of people were injured today in the crackdown on protestors as the images circulating on facebook bring back memories from January 14, 2011 and before and raise many questions about the status of human rights in Tunisia in the post-revolution.
