Target Practice the movie is working it's way through various film festivals with much praise from viewers. The topic is home grown terror camps inside the United States of America. See the trailer here. I can't wait to see this movie in a local theater.
The writer/director/producer Richmond Riedel updates me on the movie:
\"Target Practice\" plows on towards distribution, with a couple of recent updates
...
Just screened April 24 at the Appalachian Film Festival in
Huntington, West Virginia, where the film won 2nd place Best Feature. The
Q&A afterwards was very interesting, with many people surprised by the fact
-- and extremely alarmed -- that the premise for the film was based on the
actual existence of such terrorist training camps already discovered on North
American soil.
The review in the Huntington News commented that the
premise frightens and ignites real fears.
We also had a similar reaction
when the film screened at the Burbank International Film Festival on March 27.
People want to know about these camps after they see the film ... it's like an
awakening.
We also won the Award of Excellence in the Hollywood Accolade
Competition, which is not exactly a festival but is more of a competition run by
film industry types.
Brewing news regarding theatrical distribution,
Pay-per-view, Video-on-Demand, DVD, etc. Yes, it's a maddeningly slow process
but again, without the big Hollywood stars, the distributors are being very
careful about how they put the whole package together.
Thought you'd
appreciate the updates, though. Just letting you know that \"Target Practice\" is
alive and well and I'll hit you with \"the scoop\" when it happens ...
Friends, we need to support this movie, Target Practice, when it does arrive in theaters across the US and hopefully the world. This is a brave thing Mr. Riedel is doing -- he has made an excellent film that is getting rave reviews -- and telling the story of terror training camps inside the United States, something the average American citizen has no idea about.
From a Law Enforcement document April '09 on these terrorist training camps:
For nearly 30 years, a violent group with established roots in both the United States and Pakistan has been committing numerous crimes here in America, consisting of murder, bombings, robberies ' all for the purpose of 'purifying' Islam through violence.
This group, known as Jamaat ul-Fuqra (JF), was founded by Sheik Mubarak Ali Gilani during a 1980 visit to New York. In an effort to stop the perceived influence of Western ideology on Islam, JF uses violence to keep Islam from being ‘tainted' by Western influences. [snip]
Armed members guard their compounds and do not allow for outside visitors. JF Headquarters (Islamberg) are in Hancock, NY. Islamberg is known to have a mosque, school house, grocery store and reportedly a firing range at their compound.
JF has also set up communities/training compounds in the following areas:
Augusta,Commerce,Macon & Jessup Georgia
Talihina, Oklahoma
York County, South Carolina
Dover, Tennessee
Red House; Roanoke Virginia
Wayne County, Pennsylvania
Tulane County, California
Washington State
Colorado
Michigan
Illinois
